DMA101: NEW MEDIA TOOLS , Module 2 - National Sports Team Logo Project

For this project we had to reproduce a sports logo in Illustrator using the tools taught in class (pen, shapes, layers window, pathfinder window). I chose to do the Florida Panthers. This actually took longer to trace than I thought. (estimate time: 6hrs)

ORIGINAL

REPRODUCED LOGO

DMA101: NEW MEDIA TOOLS , Module 3 - Vector Illustration

For this project I had to digitize an image using a sketch from our personal sketchbook or other professional source. I decided to draw something new specifically for this project because I wanted this piece to be created intirely by me. I created this vectorized illustration using: pen, shapes, layers window, pathfinder window, gradiant). (estimate time: 10hrs)

Final
Process: As I was tracing the sketch I saved a few versions of it. It looks nothing like my original sketch but the purpose of the sketch was used only as a guide. Click here to see the process.

DMA 179 - MEGALADON @ THE ROM - STYLE GUIDE

To create a poster for The ROM featuring the Megalodon Shark, we had to create 2 style guides that could possibly be used for the final. I will be using version 1.

DMA 179 - 360º PERSPECTIVE OF MEGALODON RECREATION

Unfortunately, due to poor lighting and limited amount of images, the rotation doesn't run as smoothly but you get the idea. To view each angle individually, click here.

  • "big tooth" in Greek
  • biggest prehistoric shark
  • approximately 25 to 1.5 million years old
  • 20.3 metres (67 ft) in length and 103 metric tons
  • tooth size: 18 cm (7.1 in) in slant height
PROJET: Clay Megaldon tooth
  • Must be made to scale of a real Megaldon tooth
  • The model should show all details one would find with a real fossilized Megaldon tooth
  • Final model should be created with a ceramic-like modeling compound that can be harden in a standard home oven –super sculptey® is the suggested sculptured medium
  • It is strongly suggested that you may require the building of a wire armature and tinfoil base.
  • Must be painted so it resembles a real fossilized Megaldon tooth.
  • You will be required to photograph your product asset as the source model for this engagement.
Wired.

Foil filler.

Molded into shape.

Detailed.

Baked and redetailed.

Coated with primer and painted with acrylic. Left out the varnish to create a more natural look.

new look.
old banner

I was getting tired of the look of my blog so i decided to change it. It took me forever to figure out how to put the new image up in the top left corner of the page. But im still not happy with the placement because I initially wanted it fixed to the top of the page so when you scroll down, it stays in the top corner. =T I also added the gold fish widget! pretty cool eh?

DMA 179 - lets try this again burgerman...

This time i tried not to think so hard and just thought CLUTTERED and COLOURFUL. Drew it out first on paper this time and THEN vectorized it in Illustrator. Better than my previous one atleast! and things always look better cropped. ;)

DMA 179 - mmm...burgerman...

Jon Burgerman is an illustrator born in Nottingham. His illustrations are usually drawn using a contour technique and uses vibrant colours that create a childish characteristic.

This is my Burgerman inspired illustration. I'm not completely satisfied with it yet and will have a a better version of it posted in the near future.
